CONSERVE RESTORE PASS ON
Materia Viva has been working to preserve cultural heritage through its conservation-restoration activities since 1989. Comprising a team of restoration professionals accredited by the Musées de France, the laboratory works on archaeological and contemporary collections and treats a range of materials: metal, ceramics, glass and dry organic materials. Materia Viva has become a benchmark in its field, contributing to research through regular publications. Materia Viva's team is committed to disseminating knowledge and transferring skills, and is also involved in training, teaching and taking on trainees.

30 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE CULTURAL HERITAGE

From the start of its activity in 1989 to the present day, Materia Viva has continued to develop and establish its expertise across the country. Initially part of the Archéologies association, Materia Viva became independent in 2001 to devote itself fully to safeguarding historical, archaeological and museum heritage. The association continued to grow, joining the repository of the regional archaeology department in 2002, then becoming part of the national network of restoration laboratories for museums in France in 2005.
Housed in a secure 300 m2 building, Materia Viva has specific technical areas adapted to each type of intervention: mechanical, chemical and electrochemical treatment stations, sandblasting, grinding and restoration stations, an area dedicated to preventive conservation, storerooms and a library.
Materia Viva complies with health and safety regulations and protects the environment, in particular by recycling chemical waste for the last 20 years.
